Adam Lemer, 79, rural Drake, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at CHI St. Alexius hospital in Bismarck following a courageous battle with cancer. His funeral will be held Saturday, September 14, at 10:30 A. M. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Drake with burial in the church cemetery. Arrangements with Nelson Funeral Home in Drake.
Adam Lemer, son of Ludwig G. and Lena (Volk) Lemer was born December 24, 1939 at rural Balfour. He grew up on the family farm north of Drake where he attended a nearby country school. He then attended Notre Dame Academy in Willow City, graduating in 1958. On October 22, 1966 he was united in marriage to Judy Ludwig.
Adam always had a love for farming and ranching. After years of construction work throughout North Dakota, he purchased a farm north of Drake in 1968 where he and Judy have farmed and ranched since.
Adam loved his grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #5856 of Drake.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judy; 3 daughters, Shari (Wesley) Grade, Julene Handeland and Laurie (Darrell) Grade; 2 sons, Douglas (Sarah) Lemer and Jonathan Lemer; grandchildren, Justin, Emily and Weston Grade; step-granddaughter, Brandalen (Brian) Lindbo; step-great-grandchildren, Caleb Leibel, Berlyn Lindbo, Cambria Leibel and Easton Lindbo, Victoria, James (Kelly) and Rachel Handeland, Gustav (Lacey), Levi and Morgan Grade, and Wyatt and Gracie Lemer; one Great-grandchild, Lane Handeland and a Great-grandbaby due in 2020. Adam is also survived by seven siblings.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Jamie; his parents and father-in-law, Peter Ludwig.
