Alan E. Reichenberger, 84, Manfred, ND passed away Wednesday November 8, 2023 at CHI St. Alexius Hospital, Dickinson, ND.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday November 18, 2023 at the Chaseley United Methodist Church with Rev. Warren Rhodes officiating.  Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Cathay, ND.  Visitation will be from 5:00 -7:00 PM, Friday November 17, 2023 at the Nelson Funeral Home in Fessenden, ND.

Alan Emil Reichenberger was born September 16, 1939, in Carrington, ND to Emil and Martha (Burzloff) Reichenberger.  He was raised on a farm in rural Cathay, ND where he attended school and graduated in 1957. He then attended Forestry School in Bottineau, ND.  He married Agnes LaVon Fuhrman on July 27, 1959 in Fessenden, ND.  He joined the Army June 11, 1959 where he served for 2 years mainly in Korea and was honorably discharged on July 25, 1963. While in the Army he worked in the motor pool and put his mechanical skills to work.  Alan worked many different jobs after the Army;  starting as a smelting worker and was promoted to a welder, once he was certified for the Anacoda Company, a Semi Truck Driver for Kost Trucking, a Mechanic at Bentz Implement, then at Wrolstads both of Harvey, ND.  He became a farmer, dairyman and a rancher for the second time in 1969. He and his brothers formed a Carpentry business where they built many barns and houses. Alan and Agnes stayed on the farm until 2023, where they were the most happy.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and instructing at the James River Gun Club in Cathay, ND. He was the Harvey, ND VA post commander twice and was an active member of the Vets Club. He certainly enjoyed playing cards, Cribbage, and Whist but a good game of Pinochle we believe was his favorite! Dad loved animals! He had many dogs and cats that he so enjoyed!

Alan was a member of the Chaseley United Methodist Church, where he had many friends.

Alan is survived by his children, Elaine (Jimmy) Carter, Dickinson, ND, Brett (Barbara) Reichenberger, Fairmount, GA, and Ross (Colleen) Reichenberger, Waconia, MN; also 19 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes, parents, Emil and Martha Reichenberger, sister, Ruth (Skrakoulas), and brothers and their wives, Gerald and Diane, Art and Betty Reichenberger, and his brother-in-law Leonard (Alice) Wiesz.
