Albert W. Huber, 91, Fessenden, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017 at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford. His funeral will be held Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd Chapel with burial in the Hillside Cemetery of Fessenden. Arrangements are with Nelson Funeral Home of Fessenden.

Albert William Huber, son of Phillip and Christina (Haar) Huber, was born February 23, 1926 on his parents farm south of Fessenden where he was raised. He received his early education in the nearby Oshkosh country school, later transferring to the Fessenden Public School where he graduated in 1943. Following his graduation, Albert worked for the Soo Line Railroad for a short time.

On December 13, 1944, he entered the United States Army. He served in Korea, Japan and two tours in Germany. He retired from the US Army on February 1, 1967 and made his home in Huntsville, Alabama where he was employed with the Civil Service as a missile electronics instructor at Redstone Arsenal Base until 1981.

Albert was once married to Irmgard Krueger. He later married Jane Gilbert in 1974. She passed away in April of 2002.

While living in Huntsville, Albert became a member of the first class of the North Alabama Master Gardeners in 1981. In addition to gardening, Albert worked with stained glass for over twenty years, winning a number of awards for his stained glass projects.

Albert returned to the Fessenden area in September of 2007 where he had resided until recently moving to New Rockford.

He is survived by his sons, Ron of Springfield, MO and John of Huntsville, AL; step-son, Richard Kuch III of Johns Creek, GA, 2 step-daughters, Amy Hanson of Troy, MI and Joyce Coleman of Madison, AL; 1 sister, Ruth Autry of Stockton, CA; and 7 grandchildren.

Albert was preceded in death by his wife, Jane; his parents; 2 brothers, Alvin and Harold; and three sisters, Olive McCormick, Lillian McCormick and Violet Huber.
