Alfred John Klindworth, son of Walter A. and Ruth (Andersgaard) Klindworth, was born May 9, 1938 at Harvey. He grew up in Hamberg and received his early education at the Hamberg Public School. Alfred, by now known by family and friends as Sonny, attended Fessenden High School, graduating in 1957. He then began working for a grain elevator construction company building elevators throughout North Dakota, Minnesota and South Dakota. While working in South Dakota he met the love of his life, Ardis Mae Haswell. They were married on April 12, 1975 in Shevlin, MN and made their home in Sioux Falls, SD. Alfred continued to work construction for a few more years before returning to Hamberg. He accepted a position with the Postal Department as a Contract Mail Carrier, a job he held until his retirement.

Alfred was a member of the Hamberg Lutheran Church until its closure and later transferred his membership to Concordia Lutheran Church. He enjoyed wood working and creating things with his hands, and collecting watches and trade tokens.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ardis who passed away on March 5, 2018; his infant son, Abraham; his parents; brothers, Lawrence, Clarence, Paul & Walter, Jr.; and sisters, Marian Lee, Frances Klindworth and Esther Indergaard.

Alfred is survived by his sons, John of Devils Lake and Jeffrey (Marion) Klindworth of Grand Forks; grandson, Sebastian Klindworth; and his sister, Pearl Evenwall of Shevlin, MN.
