Alyce Hart, 91, Chaseley, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the Golden Acres Manor care center in Carrington. Her funeral will be held Monday, May 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Chaseley with burial in the Chaseley Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3 pm to 6 pm at the Nelson Funeral Home in Fessenden.
Alyce L. Moug, daughter of Erwin and Lynnfred (Elliott) Moug, was born April 18, 1923 on her grandparents farm near Medina, ND. Her first years were spent at Medina where she attended school through the 7th grade. The family then lived in several North Dakota communities including Heaton, Killdeer, Pettibone, Hesper and Flora where her father worked as a depot agent. They settled in Chaseley in 1937 where she began her high school education and graduated from Bowdon High School in 1941. She earned her teaching certificate and taught at a country school southwest of Harvey for several years and the Hart School south of Chaseley.
On January 12, 1945 she was married to Orval Hart in Bowdon. They made their home on the Hart farm south of Chaseley where they farmed and ranched until their retirement. They began spending their winters in Apache Junction, AZ in 1987 and continued until 2000. Orval passed away January 14, 2004.
Alyce was a member of the United Methodist Church and the church ladies aide in Chaseley. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star Home Chapter 119 of Fessenden, a long time member of the Bowdon Public School Music Mothers and a member of the local homemakers club in her earlier years.
She is survived by 2 sons, Nathan (Beverly) Hart and Kim (Laura) Hart of Chaseley; two daughters, Janell (Roger) Krueger of Cando and Julie Hart (Brett) Schutte of Mitchell, SD; son-in-law, Leonard Fike of Chaseley; 11 grandchildren, Tim, Patrick, Roxane, Troy, Jason, JoDee, Nickolas, Trevor, Kaylynn, Jenna and Morgan; 3 step-grandchildren, JaeLynn, John and Danielle; 17 great-grandchildren, Brianna H., Brandon, Braden, Abigail, Alexander, Madyson, Benjamin, Charles, Brenna, Brady, Brianna F., Boston, Bristol, Zofia, Mya, Nolan and Knox; 12 step great-grandchildren, Houston, Jessen, Morgan, Kayden, Kylee, Krissa, Izabell, Michael, Brynn, Presten, BrookLynn and Gavin; one brother, Delmore 'Bud' (Harriet) Moug of Couer d'Alene, ID and one sister, Audrey Donegan of Carrington.
Alyce was preceded in death by her husband, Orval; her daughter, Colleen Fike and her parents.
