Ardell Rask, 79, of Fessenden, passed away Friday, April 26, 2013 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey. His funeral will be held Tuesday, April 30 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Fessenden. Visitation will be from 3 pm to 6 pm at the Nelson Funeral Home in Fessenden. Burial will take place later in the spring at the Chaseley Cemetery.

Ardell Rask, son of Floyd and Luella (Hamann) Rask, was born February 17, 1934. He grew up in the Chaseley area where he attended country school.

He was once married to Thelma Rask. They made their home in Fessenden and later in Columbia, SD and New Town, ND before returning to Fessenden in the mid 1960s.

Ardell worked in the oil fields for a time and for the Fessenden Elevator for several years. He also drove truck and worked for area farmers.

He is survived by 2 sons, Allan (Tina) Rask of rural Fessenden and Scott Rask of Belfield; 3 daughters, Melorie (Curtis) Frey of Harvey, Shirley (Robert) Krueger of Fessenden and Carla Rask of Jamestown; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Vernon (Mildred) Rask of Randle, WA and Fred (Barbara) Rask of Larimore; and 2 sisters, Barbara (Jim) Hieb of Great Falls, MT and Annetta (Harold) Kalis of Tuttle.

Ardell was preceded in death by his parents; 2 great-granddaughter, Ava Thelma Widmer and Elsie Mae Grunden; 1 brother, Milton and 1 sister, June Whipple.
