Billy D. Schaubert, 86, Casselton, formerly of Bowdon, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018 at his home in Casselton. A private Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends. Arrangements with Nelson Funeral Home of Fessenden.
Billy D. Schaubert, son of Gideon and Florence (Hewitt) Schaubert, was born June 22, 1932 on the family farm southeast of Bowdon where he grew up and attended a nearby country school. He graduated from Bowdon High School and enrolled at the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton where he graduated with a degree in electrical engineering.
On December 27, 1952, Billy was married to Vauna Seibel in Bowdon.
He entered the United States Air Force in 1952 and served his country during the Korean War as an electronics instructor. Following his honorable discharge, Billy and Vauna made their home on the Schaubert farm southeast of Bowdon where he farmed and did electrical and TV repair work. He also was active in lay ministry much of his adult life and served as pastor at the Community Church of God in Bowdon for many years.
Billy was a member of the Terry Martin American Legion Post #175 of Bowdon and the Bowdon Ambulance Squad for many years. He was active in the Bowdon area community, having served on many township, church and school boards.
He is survived by Vauna; his son, Dan (Michelle) Schaubert of Puyallup, WA; his daughter, Penney Schaubert of Fessenden; 7 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents.
