Brian R. Cox, 41, Drake, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey. His funeral will be held Thursday, February 4 at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Drake with burial in the Kief Cemetery at Kief, ND. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 3 pm to 5 pm at the Bethke-Nelson Funeral Home in Drake.

Brian Robert Cox, son of Robert F. and Audrey (Volochenko) Cox, was born April 24, 1974 at Minot. He spent his first years in the Kief area before moving to Nebraska where he graduated from David City High School in 1992.

In 1993 he entered the United States Army National Guard and later served in the United States Air Force National Guard. During his six years serving his country, Brian was stationed in several locations throughout the United States and served one tour in Afghanistan. Following his discharge in 1999, Brian lived in Maricopa, AZ for a short time before returning to North Dakota. In recent years he had worked as a mechanic for several businesses.

On February 18, 2010, Brian was married to Kelly Besoyan at Towner. They had resided in Drake since.

He is survived by his wife, Kelly; 2 step-daughters, Bobbi Lane of Grand Forks and Courtney Miskell of Drake; 1 step-son, James Miskell of Drake; his mother, Audrey Volochenko of Kief; and his maternal grandmother, Annie Volochenko of Kief.

Brian was preceded in death by his father, Robert Cox.
