Clara Mack, 96, Drake died Friday, May 24, in a Harvey nursing home.

Clara Kraft, daughter of Paul and Agatha (Reiger) Kraft, was born March 10, 1917 near Blumenfeld, ND. Following her father's death in 1922, the family moved to Devils Lake. In 1927, she moved to rural Rugby where she lived with Margaret and Valentine Koble. She walked three miles to an area country school. She later returned to Devils Lake and worked at Swift's. For a short time, Clara lived in Minneapolis, MN where her sisters were living, but moved back to North Dakota and began working at the Rugby Creamery.

On June 9, 1941 she was married to Frank P. Mack in Rugby. They made their home on a farm southwest of Drake. Frank passed away October 2, 1998.

Clara loved family and family get-togethers. She enjoyed playing cards, quilting, crocheting, embroidering, gardening, baking and milking cows. In addition to being a very hard worker, Clara also found time to work on craft projects, many of which decorated her home.

She was a member of the St. Margaret Mary Church and its Guild, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Drake Senior Citizens.

Clara was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; 5 sisters; 2 brothers; 5 half-brothers; 2 step-brothers; her great-grandson, Michael Mack; one niece and two nephews.

She is survived by three sons, Allen (Kay) Mack and Gerald Mack of Drake, and Richard (Gladys) Mack of Hazen; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; step-sister, Betty Haman of Rolette; and two step sisters-in-law, Virginia Koble of Texas and Rose Koble of Harvey.

Funeral will be Thursday, May 30 at 10:30a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Drake. Visitation Wednesday, May 29, from 3-5pm at the Bethke-Nelson Funeral Home, Drake. Prayer Service at 7pm at the church in Drake.
