Claude Byron Vollhardt, 74, of Drake, ND passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at his home.   A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at the Drake City Cemetery.

Claude Byron Vollhardt was born November 8, 1947 to Robert J. and Margaret (Hager) Vollhardt in Ontario, OR.  He was raised in Puyallup, WA until 1955, when his family moved to Tacoma, WA.  Claude attended Lincoln High School in Tacoma and graduated with the class of 1966.  He then furthered his education, attending a trade school to learn boat building.

Claude enlisted in the United States Navy in 1967 during the Vietnam War, where he served on the USS Constellation.  He was honorably discharged March 27, 1970.  Claude returned to Washington, where he built boats for a short time.  From 1973-1996, he worked at Boise-Cascade Paper mill near Tacoma.

Claude was united in marriage to Marcella Roder on December 24, 1973 in Tacoma.  In 1996, Claude and Marcella moved to Drake, where the couple purchased the Roder farm and raised cattle for a number of years.  Marcella passed away April 6, 2017.  Claude enjoyed wood working and word searches.  He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

Claude is survived by the Roder, the Dietrich and the Frueh families, consisting of 11 nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Agnes Roder.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert J. and Margaret Vollhardt; his wife, Marcella Vollhardt.
