.Conrad 'Con' Sellie, 89, Fessenden, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford. His funeral will be held Saturday, November 1, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Fessenden. There will be no viewal but friends may sign the memorial book on Friday, from 3 pm to 6 pm at the Nelson Funeral Home in Fessenden.
Conrad M. Sellie, son of Conrad and Oline (Ingvaldson) Sellie, was born February 5, 1925 on the family farm at rural Cathay, where he was raised. He received his early education at a nearby Hamburg Township country school and later attended Fessenden High School, graduating in 1942. He began farming with his father at an early age and later took over the family farm.
On October 22, 1955 he was married to Nancy Peterson in Mandan. They made their home on the Sellie farm and continued to farm until their retirement in 1990. Following his retirement, Con remained active on the farm, assisting his sons when needed.
He enjoyed traveling with his family on numerous trips to warmer destinations, family reunions and annual mystery trips with Nancy.
Con was a lifelong member of the First Lutheran Church where he held several offices through the years. He was also a member of the local Masonic Lodge, the Shriners and, in his earlier years, was a member of the New Rockford Toastmaster Club.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nancy; 3 sons, Chris (Susan) Sellie & Mark (Julie) Sellie of rural Cathay and Todd (Cheryl) Sellie of Glenwood Springs, CO; 2 daughters, Annette (John) Broyles of New Salem and Melissa (David) Lewis of Johnston, IA; 15 Grandchildren, Brooke, Alison, Ian, Megan, Nick, Jacob, Jessica, Misty, Brandi, Brianna, Kayla, Blake, Krystal, Nichole and Amanda; 15 great-grandchildren, Austin, Autumn, Addison, JaShawn, Luckus, Blake, Kyreigh, Axton, Derek, Luke, Rose, Kaleb, Mariah, Raeanne and Ella on the way; 1 sister, Ruth Cox of Seattle, WA; and 2 sisters-in-law, Carol Sellie and Margarethe Sellie.
Con was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, John, Herbert and Clifford; and 4 sisters, Myrtle, Margarete, Signe and Helen.
