Obituary

Dallas Larson, 85, Heimdal, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2018 at CHI St. Alexius Health in Bismarck.

Dallas Elaine Hakanson, daughter of Victor and Esther (Dahlstrom) Hakanson, was born September 1, 1933 on her parents farm south of Maddock where she grew up and attended the nearby Quarve #2 country school through the eighth grade. She then attended Benson County Agricultural and Training School in Maddock, graduating in 1951. In September of that year, Dallas accepted a part time position at the Haukness Store in Maddock, which soon turned into a full time position. The store changed ownership and names through the years, from the Haukness Store, to the Johnson Store and finally to Orvik's Clothing. Dallas continued to work at the store for over 35 years, retiring in December of 1986. In addition to working at the store, Dallas cared for her parents for many years.

On February 14, 1972, Dallas was united in marriage to Raymond Larson in The Little Brown Church in the Vale at Nashua, Iowa. They made their home in Heimdal where Dallas has resided since. Raymond passed away January 18, 2006.

Dallas was an active member of the Viking Lutheran Church and sang in the church choir. After moving to Heimdal, she and Raymond attended the Hoff Lutheran Church where she served as secretary of the Ladies Aide for a number of years. She enjoyed baking, especially buns and loved sharing them with family and friends. She also enjoyed dancing and music, and taught herself to play the piano and accordion.

She is survived by Raymonds children, David of Fessenden, Cheryl (Roger) Engelhardt of Black Hawk, SD and Gail (Wesley) Neuenschwander of Seattle, WA; grandsons Ryan Larson and Steven Engelhardt; great-grandsons, Grady, Jaiden and Ryder Larson; brother, Arland Hakanson; nieces and nephews; grandnieces & grandnephews; great-grandnieces & great-grandnephews; a great-great-grandnephew; and many friends and extended family.

Dallas was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond and her parents, Victor & Esther Hakanson.
