Darlene Flick, 87, Harvey, formerly of Chaseley, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016 at the St. Aloisius Medical Center in Harvey. Her funeral will be held Thursday, October 6 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chaseley United Methodist Church with burial at the Chaseley Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p. m. at the Nelson Funeral Home in Fessenden.

Darlene Helen Haluska was born on July 4, 1929 to Anton and Martha (Dwatha) Haluska south of Manfred. The family moved north of Chaseley where she attended school, later attending school in Bowdon. She then enrolled at Valley City Teachers College where she received her teachers certificate and taught school for five years.

On June 21, 1953, Darlene was married to Roger Flick at Chaseley. They lived in the Chaseley area purchasing their current farm in 1962. Darlene was known for her beautiful embroidery which she loved to do. She and Roger took great pride in their farming and cattle operation. Roger passed away on December 25, 2004. Darlene remained on the farm until February of 2012 when she became a resident of St. Aloisius Care Center in Harvey.

Darlene was a member of the United Methodist Church in Chaseley having served as a Sunday school teacher, youth leader and was a member of the Chaseley Ladies Aid. She was a past member of the local homemakers club.

Darlene is survived by her children Steven of Chaseley, David (Cheryl) of Chaseley, Michael (Nona) of Bowdon and Lisa (Jeff) Stremick of Fargo, six grandchildren Ashley (Kory) Carlson of Dunn Center, Chelsey Flick (fiancé Shelby Block) of Nashville TN, Samantha (Gage) Bollingberg of Cathay, Travis Flick of Grand Forks and Jackson and Collin Stremick of Fargo, one great grandson, Knox Carlson of Dunn Center; one sister, Alvina Bakula of North Hills, CA; one brother, Lawrence Haluska of Anamoose; and many nieces and nephews, including a very special niece Carol Hattel of Bismarck. Darlene will be greatly missed by her dear lifelong friend Delores Baltrusch.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Evelina & husband Ervin Boese and Edna & husband Joe Hattel; and brothers Fred Hall & wife Martha and Ed Haluska & wife Esther; 2 infant brothers and brother-in-law, Ed Bakula. Darlene will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Blessed be her memory.
