Darlene R. Fandrich was born October 10, 1929 at Goodrich, ND, the daughter of Walter and Esther (Axt) Fandrich.  She grew up in the Goodrich area where she attended school until 1947 when the family moved to a farm near Manfred.  She attended Sheyenne River Academy near Harvey, where she graduated as the valedictorian of her class, a family tradition her son Lynn and grandson Jared carried on.  Darlene attended summer school at Valley City State and received her teaching certificate.  She taught school from 1947 to 1948 in a one room school in Pony Gulch Township, Wells County, North Dakota.

Darlene married Dale E. Miller on September 8, 1948 at the Manfred Seventh-Day Adventist Church.  They made their home with Dale's parents for 18 months until they purchased their own farm, where they farmed until 1993.  They later retired and moved into Harvey, ND.

Darlene was a member of the Manfred Seventh-Day Adventist, where she was the church organist, pianist, and a member of the Manfred SDA trio for any years.  She loved to sing and has passed the love of singing to Denise, Michelle, and even her 3 year old great-grand daughter Hailey who sings all the time.  Hailey actually sings herself to sleep.

Darlene is survived by her children, Denise (Marlin) Weikum, Franktown, CO, and Lynn (Carol) Miller, Boulder, CO; grandchildren, Michelle Andrews, Jared Weikum, Nicholas Miller, and Eric Miller; great-granddaughter, Hailey Rae Andrews; siblings, Ellen Kreiter, Harvey, Arlie (Karen) Fandrich, Lincoln, NE, James (Bonnie) Fandrich, Manfred, and Dean (Sherrie) Fandrich, Gentry, AR.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Dale in 2019.
