Delbert D. Bean, 82, of Norfolk, VA, formerly of the Emrick and Fessenden areas, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the Norfolk Health Care Center in Norfolk. A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 10:00 a. m. at the Hillside Cemetery in Fessenden. Arrangements with Nelson Funeral Home of Fessenden.
Delbert Duane Bean, son of Walter and Mae (Reutter) Bean, was born May 14, 1932 at Kensal, ND. He was raised in the Heaton and Emrick areas where he received his early education. He later attended Fessenden High School.
On January 15, 1952 he entered the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge he returned to North Dakota and began working on the Robert Reimer farm south of Carrington. He was once married to Selma Aipperspach.
In 1961 they moved to Norfolk, VA where Delbert accepted a sales position with Tidewater Industrial Fasteners. He retired in 1996 and has continued to reside in Norfolk.
Delbert is survived by his children, Kelly (Carol) Bean and Dawn (Michael) Anderson of Norfolk, VA; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step father, Albert Weihemuller; three step brothers, Glen, George and Kenneth Weihemuller; and step-sister, Marion Beard.
