Delmer Leander Hagen, 92, of Cathay, ND passed away Monday, March 24, 2025 at CHI St. Alexius Hospital in Carrington, ND. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 28, 2025 at Concordia Lutheran Church in rural Fessenden, ND with Pastor Shirley Teske officiating. Visitation will take place from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, March 27, 2025 at the Nelson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Concordia Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Concordia Lutheran Cemetery: 4870 20th Street NE Fessenden, ND 58438.
Delmer Leander Hagen, son of Melvin and Jennie (Nelson) Hagen, was born June 8, 1932 in Valhalla Township Wells County, ND. He was confirmed at Eden Lutheran Church in Sheyenne, ND and educated in rural country school in Wells County, where he was 4-H Leader for a short period. Delmer was united in marriage to LaVonne Ardis Ratzak on April 8, 1956 at Concordia Lutheran Church. To this union the couple welcomed their son, LaDell.
Delmer farmed most all his life with his brother in Valhalla Township for two years and in Hamberg Township for 55 plus years. In 2004, while still farming, Delmer was burned in a fire. He made a full recovery and continued farming until 2012 and helping on the farm up to his passing. Delmer was an active member of the Concordia Lutheran Church, where he served as church treasurer and church deacon. He also served as the township secretary for close to three decades.
Delmer loved to be out working and being active. He had a strong will and determination to keep going and moving ahead. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Delmer is survived by his son, LaDell; three nephews; seven nieces; sister, Diane Bratvold of Inver Grove Heights, MN. He was preceded in death by his wife, LaVonne; parents, Melvin and Jennie Hagen; brothers, Sherman and Virgil; sister, Marlys.
