Delton J. Ehni, 91, Fessenden, North Dakota passed away Thursday, January 6, 2022 at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, North Dakota.  A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 9, 2022 at First Lutheran Church, Fessenden, North Dakota.  Pastor Shirley Teske will officiate and burial will be at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove, Wisconsin.  Local arrangements by Nelson Funeral Home, Fessenden, North Dakota.

Delton John Ehni, son of John and Anna (Hoefs) Ehni, was born June 24, 1930 on his parents farm near Chaseley where he lived his first years and attended an area country school.  At the age of seven he moved with his family to a farm north of Bowdon and attended the nearby Bowman Consolidated School.   He began helping his parents on the farm at an early age.

In 1950, Delton entered the United States Navy and served his country during the Korean War.  Following his honorable discharge in 1954, Delton was married to Sharefa 'Sherry' Ahmad in Illinois.  They made their home in Racine, WI where Delton worked construction for a time.  They then moved to the nearby community of Yorkville and in 1958 he began working at an AMC automobile manufacturing plant which was later purchased by Chrysler Motor Co.  Delton retired from Chrysler Motor Co. in the late 1980's after over 30 years of employment.  He then worked at the Dairyland Greyhound Park race track in Kenosha and continued until his retirement.    Shortly after his wife's death in 2002, Delton moved to Fessenden where he had resided since.

Delton was a member of the Frank Proisl American Legion Post #33 of Fessenden.

He is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Jim) Dahnert of Racine, WI; and two grandsons, Jon and Nick.

Delton was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his brothers, Ellery and Gerald, and his sister, Jean Zimmerman.
