Dennis Dell Zimmerman, 78, Anamoose, passed away Monday, October 3, 2016 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey where he had been a resident since June 1st, 2016 with progressive Alzheimers Disease. His funeral will be held Friday, October 7, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Francis-Xavier Catholic Church in Anamoose with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. prayer service all at the church. Arrangements by Bethke-Nelson Funeral Home of Drake.

Dennis 'Pinky' Zimmerman was born February 16, 1938 to Francis and Mildred (Larsen) Zimmerman in Rugby. He attended grade school at Roosevelt # 2 in Funston, ND and graduated from Anamoose High School in 1955. He then attended college at Minot State and later Bismarck Junior College for a short time.

Dennis worked various jobs with the North Dakota Department of Transportation. He was also a general manager for a highway construction contractor and worked as an estimator and project manager for various contractors in western United States. Dennis ended his working career as a sales representative for LaFarge Cement Company.

Dennis was once married to Carolyn Dvorak and had 4 children from that marriage. On September 22, 1998 he was married to Phyllis Peiler and had resided in Anamoose since.

Dennis enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, gardening, playing softball and working. His sense of humor, quick wit, and love of life will be greatly missed.

He leaves to mourn, his wife Phyllis; his children, Barry (Denise) of Grand Forks, Kent of Fargo, Brent (Anastasia) of Hoople and Carla (Greg) Dennis of Grand Forks; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 step-children. Mark (Gwen) Ripplinger and Michelle Ripplinger; 1 step-grandchild; his brother, Neil (Verla) Zimmerman of Minot; his sister, Sharon Bossert of Minot; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents.
