Doris Hoff, 87, of Bowdon, passed away Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014 at the Golden Acres Manor nursing home in Carrington. A private family service will be held, followed by burial at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan. Arrangements with Nelson Funeral Home of Fessenden.

Doris Jean Bertsch, daughter of John and Elizabeth (Suckut) Bertsch, was born November 18, 1926 at Carrington. She grew up in the rural Heaton area where she received her education.

On October 30, 1953 she was married to Melvin Hoff at Bowdon. They made their home south of Bowdon where they farmed until their retirement in 1978. In addition to helping on the farm, Doris worked at Martin's Grocery Store in Bowdon for a number of years. Following Melvin's death on December 28, 2004, Doris remained on the farm until moving into Bowdon in 2011.

She was a member of the Bowdon Lutheran Church in Bowdon.

Doris is survived by one son, Doug (Pam) Hoff of Bowdon; 3 daughters, Ginger Algers of Detroit Lakes, MN, DeVon Hoff (Henry Clark) of Moorhead, MN and Gloy (Tim) Isaak of West Fargo; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and her special friend and care giver, Ilona Stewart.

She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son, Danny; an infant daughter, Twyla; a grandson, Darrin Algers; her parents; 2 brothers, Ronald & Clifford; her sister Florence Schander; and a son-in-law, David Algers.
