Elfriede Brunhilde (Beyer) Miller, 86, Fessenden, passed away in Fargo, ND on April 25, 2014, surrounded by her family. Her funeral will be held Monday, April 28, 2014 at 10:30 am at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Fessenden with burial at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND. A prayer service will be held Sunday evening at 7 pm in the church. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3:00-5:00 pm at the Nelson Funeral Home in Fessenden.
Elfriede, daughter of Albrecht and Hilda (Henn) Beyer, was born December 13, 1927 in Hohn, Westerwald, Germany and was raised in Neuhochstein, Germany. She worked for several years in Wiesbaden where she met US Air Force Sgt. Marvin Miller.
On February 13, 1955 she was married to Marvin in Schonberg, Germany. Following Marvin's honorable discharge from the Air Force, they made their home in Fessenden. Later they took over the Miller family business, Fessenden Machine Co., which they operated until retiring in 1989.
Elfriede was very kind and caring; she always put herself above others and never uttered an unkind word about anyone. She was deeply devoted to God and the Catholic faith with a strong belief in the power of the Virgin Mary. She enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren; pruning her flowers; cooking; telling stories; picking up sea shells on the beach; praying; doing puzzles; short trips to Devils Lake; and having grown up near the forest, she always had a fascination with big trees.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Marvin; 4 children: daughter, Michelle (John) Huus of Hatton, ND; son, Michael (Robin) Miller of Fargo ND; daughter, Maureen (Pete) Knight of Brainerd, MN and daughter, Melissa (Paul) Huus of Pine Island, MN; 7 grandchildren, Aaron (Emily) Huus (25), Elizabeth Miller (18), John Huus (17), Matthew Huus (16), Kendra Miller (15), Kasey (12) and Connor (8); a brother, Alois; a half-brother Hans Dieter and 3 half-sisters, Irene, Ingred and Sieglinda.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Alfred and Joseph.
