Eugene Oster, 80, Drake, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020 at Trinity Homes in Minot. His funeral will be held Friday, October 9 at 11 A. M.  at the Nelson Funeral Home in Drake with visitation one hour before the service. Burial will be held at the Ebenezer Congregational Cemetery of rural Anamoose.

Eugene Oster, son of Jacob and Lydia (Ammon) Oster, was born March 23, 1940 on his parents farm south of Anamoose. At an early age, he moved with his family to the Balfour area where he grew up and attended Balfour Public School. As a young man, Eugene worked on the family farm and for other area farmers.

In 1972 he began working for the Bottineau County Road Department and continued until 1974 when a serious injury forced him to retire. Eugene had resided in Drake since.

He enjoyed spending time outdoors, relaxing on his porch or inside his camper, and watching the traffic. He also enjoyed listening to his many metal wind chimes, spending hours tinkering on projects in his basement, eating chocolate and drinking Pepsi.  Eugene was a true patriot and was proud to fly the American flag.

He is survived by his sister, Eleanor Neuhalfen of Minot; 4 sisters-in-law, Sheila Oster of East Grand Forks, MN, Carol Oster of Minot, Cassie Oster of Minot and Angie Oster of Carrington; a number of nieces and nephews; and his loving friend and care giver, Carol Martin and her children, Chamonix, Lillian, Laura and Eric.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Lydia Oster; 10 brothers, Clifford, Elroy, Leroy, Ernest, Arlo, Marvin, Victor, Duane, Jerry and Orville; and sisters, Delores and Janice.
