Obituary

Evelyn Due, 96, Turtle Lake, formerly of Fessenden, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Turtle Lake. Her funeral will be held Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Fessenden with burial at Hillside Cemetery in Fessenden. Visitation will be held Friday, August 3, from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the church, followed by a 7 P.M. prayer service. Arrangements with Nelson Funeral Home of Fessenden.

Evelyn Miller, daughter of Frederick and Nellie (Meyers) Miller, was born December 24, 1921 at Bottineau. She grew up on the family farm near Gardina and attended a nearby country school. As a young woman she traveled to the Seattle, WA area and became one of a group of women known as "Rosie The Riverter", who worked in the factories and shipyards during WWII. She later returned to Bottineau to help care for her father and also worked as a waitress at a Bottineau café for a time.

On August 8, 1945, Evelyn was married to Paul Due in Willow City. They made their home and farmed near Willow City until 1958 when they moved to a farm southwest of Heaton. In 1970 they retired from farming and moved to Fessenden. Following Paul's death in 1987, Evelyn remained in Fessenden until 2005 when she moved to the Sheridan Memorial Home in McClusky. She had been a resident of the Community Memorial Health Center in Turtle Lake since 2015.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Bruce (Kris) Due of Moorhead, MN, Keith (Diane) Due of Washburn and Karen (Louie) Schmidt of Mobridge, SD; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; her sons, Larry & Dale; her parents; brothers, Wilbur and infant Harold; and 1 sister, Erleen.
