Flora Neuman, 92, rural Bowdon, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey. Her funeral will be held Thursday, March 19, at 10:30 a.m. at the Bowdon Lutheran Church with burial at the Hillside Cemetery of Fessenden. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home in Fessenden.
Flora Vierow, daughter of Henry and Ida Vierow, was born January 30, 1923 at Melrose Park, IL. As a young child, Flora moved with her parents to Addison, IL where she grew up and received her education. She was baptized, confirmed and married in the Zion Lutheran Church of Bensenville, IL. While living in Addison, Flora was employed for a time at Jefferson Electric Co. and the local food market.
On January 9, 1949, she was married to Lawrence Neuman in Bensenville, IL. They made their home on the Neuman farm north of Bowdon where they farmed and raised cattle. Following her husband's death on February 13, 1999, she remained on the farm until entering the St. Aloisius Nursing Home of Harvey in August of 2012.
Flora was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Fessenden until its closure in 1989. She was presently a member of the Bowdon Lutheran Church in Bowdon.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda (Ben) Eide of Bowdon; her son Randy Neuman of rural Bowdon; 1 granddaughter, Laura (Bryce) Monson; 1 great-granddaughter, Anna Theresa Monson; and her brother, Henry Vierow of Montello, WI.
Flora was preceded in death by her husband; and 2 brothers, Herbert and Gilbert.
