Obituary

Gerry E. Eichele, 91, of Robinson, ND passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026 at SMP Health Ave Maria in Jamestown, ND. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, September 21, 2026 at the Bowdon Country Seventh-Day Adventist Church in rural Bowdon, ND. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND at a later date.

Geraldine Eleanor was born March 1, 1935 to Lloyd and Emilia (Grabinske) Randall at Lake Williams, ND. She was raised and educated in Kidder County, graduating from Pettibone High School with the class of 1952. Gerry continued her education at Valley City Teachers College, where she received her Teachers Certificate. Gerry taught in a one-room schoolhouse in the country and touched the lives of countless children. She taught Sabbath School, Vacation Bible School and was a youth Pathfinder Club leader. She was on the Church Beautification committee using her talent with flowers and plants.

Gerry met her future husband of 70 years Gordon Eichele, through 4-H, just a few miles away from his family home. They were united in marriage on August 29, 1954, at the Congregational Church in Lake Williams, ND. Upon Gordon’s Honorable discharge from the United States Army, Gordon and Gerry returned to Kidder County, and in 1959 purchased a farmstead, where they spent the next 65 years building a family and a successful farming and cattle operation. The couple worked side by side to not only survive the hardships of starting a farm from nothing, but went on to thrive. They worked making continual improvements to their family home and farm.

Gerry transformed an old brown hill into a Garden of Eden at their farm, planting an array of perennials and creating flowerbeds that drew the attention of many who stopped to see them. She was happiest outdoors and was justifiably proud of her yard and garden. She hosted family gatherings, church picnics, holidays, and fed countless neighbors and friends who turned out for their annual threshing event. She shared food, friendship and bouquets of her flowers with shut-ins, neighbors and her church family. She was known for her fresh buns, kuchen and caramel rolls and the smell of baking enticed many to her kitchen. Her shelves were brimming with canned vegetables, peaches, jams and jellies which she generously shared. Gerry spent hours at her sewing machine, creating beautiful quilts, clothing, bridesmaid’s dresses and wedding gowns.

Gerry served with the Kidder County Homemakers, Pettibone Saddle Club and Lake Williams Stars 4-H Club. She made kuchen for fundraisers, served at basketball games and shared garden bounty with the Robinson School. She served as Wallace Township Clerk for many years. She planted countless trees, winning two soil conservation awards for her efforts.

Gerry kept her faith, loved her family, and spent her life in the service of others. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Gerry is survived by her children, Lonnie (Brenda) of Harvey, ND, Randy (Donna) of Robinson, ND, Lorie (Jeff) Kosir of Fargo, ND, and Lynn (Tony) Flieth of Wahpeton, ND; grandchildren, Jodi Wiersch, Jaclyn Nelson, Colton Eichele, Megan Domine, Gavin Flieth, Levi Flieth and William Flieth; two great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Luka; brothers, Robert Randall of Robinson, ND and Rodney Randall of Townsend, MT.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Gordon Eichele; parents, Lloyd and Emilia Randall; and brother, Richard Randall.
