Gust Krueger, 92, Minot, formerly of Kief, passed away Monday, August 31, 2020 at his home near Minot surrounded by his loving family. His funeral will be held Friday, September 11, at 1:00 P.M. at the American Legion Hall in Butte with burial in the Kief Cemetery. CDC recommendations including social distancing, hand sanitizing, wearing masks, and staying away if not feeling well are encouraged. Arrangements are with Nelson Funeral Home of Drake.

Gust Krueger, son of Matt and Sophie (Martin) Krueger, was born February 24, 1928 on the Krueger family farm near Kief, ND where he grew up and attended a nearby country school. He began working on the farm at an early age.

In January of 1951, Gust entered the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to the family farm and resumed farming with his father and brother, Bennie. In 1952 Gust met the love of his life, Jane Klingman, and on June 26, 1953 they were united in marriage. They made their home on a farm near the Krueger family farm for three years before moving onto the family farm which they later purchased. Gust loved the farm, working the soil and harvesting the crops.

In addition to milking cows and raising small grains, Gust owned and operated Krueger Excavating and did custom spraying and combining for friends and neighbors.

In 2003, after selling their farm, Gust and Jane moved to Minot where he worked for TSC for a number of years.

Gust enjoyed country and old-time music, playing cards, telling a good story, collecting toy tractors and dancing. He and Jane were members of the 3 Bs Square Dance Club for several years.

He was a member and past council member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Butte and attended Our Redeemers Lutheran Church after moving to Minot. He was also a member of the Lawrence E. Meidl American Legion Post #270 of Butte for over 61 years where he served as commander and held several other offices through the years. Gust loved and was proud to display the American flag on their farm and in their yard in Minot. He also served on the Strasburg Township Board and was vice-president of the Kief Cemetery Board for many years.

Most of all, Gust loved his wife and family and spending time with all of them.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Jane; his daughter, Corrine Krueger (Steve Pedersen) and son, Delane Krueger both of Minot; 2 granddaughters, LeAnn (Bob Tanner) & Misty; 7 great-grandchildren, Dilan (Karrie), Cheyenne, Justin, Mayli, Taylor, Nate & Cole.

Gust was preceded in death by his son, Larry; his parents; brothers, Bill and Bennie and sisters, Emma and an infant sister.
