Harold Ernest Stratemeyer
April 20, 1920 - November 13, 2014

Harold E. Stratemeyer died peacefully on November 13, 2014 at his home in Seattle, WA at the age of 94.

Harold 'Hal', the eldest and last surviving son of Henry Louis and Gertrude Augusta (Bruer) Stratemeyer, was born April 2, 1920 in Heaton, Wells County, North Dakota.

Harold was a graduate of the University of North Dakota and was the first person in both branches of the family tree to receive a degree from a four year accredited university.

A veteran of World War II in Europe, Harold was a Master Sergeant and served as a Sergeant Major. He served in the Battle of the Bulge and later visited the Nuremberg War Crimes Trial.

Harold became a Certified Public Accountant in 1959 and had his own practice for forty years, retiring in 2001.

Harold was pleased to be a past District Governor of Toastmasters International, a proud member of the Rotary Club of University District, and a past president of the Rotary Club of Lake City. He traveled around the world on humanitarian projects and was nearing 29 years of perfect attendance.

He was a member of the University Presbyterian Church.

Genealogy became a career in retirement and he traced both family roots back to about 1690.

Harold is survived by his children, Cheryl (Robert) Herring, Marilyn (Frank) Thompson, Douglas (Cheryl) Stratemeyer and Lenore (Patrick) Clark and three grandchildren, Matthew, Courtney and Katelyn.

A memorial service was held Monday, December 15, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the University Presbyterian Church in Seattle.

Harold will be buried in the family plot at the Heaton Cemetery, Heaton, ND.
