Helen J. Rask, 84, Carrington, formerly of Hurdsfield, ND passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Golden Acres Manor in Carrington, ND.  Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at the Hurdsfield Community Center, Hurdfield.  Pastor Ray Hagan will officiate and burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hurdsfield, ND.  Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at the Nelson Funeral Home, Fessenden and one hour prior to the service at the Community Center.

Helen Jean Severtson was born March 17, 1937 at Hamberg, ND, the daughter of George & Josie (Gunderson) Severtson.  She attended grade school in Hamberg and high school in Fessenden.  Helen married Alvin Rask on January 22, 1955 at Concordia Lutheran Church, rural Fessenden.  They farmed near Hurdsfield until 1981 when they moved into town.  Helen helped out on the farm and also was a cook in Hurdsfield.  She later was employed at Havit Services in Harvey until she retired in 2009.

Helen was a member of Hurdsfield Lutheran Church, where she served as the church organist for many years.  She was also the Lynn Township clerk for many years.

Helen is survived by her children, Candace (Bob) Hoffman, Fargo, Lori Rask, Dickinson, Cheryl (Ken) Hoffman, Fargo, Randy (Carol) Rask, Hurdsfield, and Craig (Brenda) Rask, Bismarck; 20 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Gordon (Darlene) Severtson, Nevis, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alvin in 2010, granddaughter Ashley, brother, Robert, and sisters Evelyn Page and Violet Potthast.
