Obituary

Helen Sieg, 84, Anamoose, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.

Helen, the daughter of August and Emilia (Held) Selzler, was born April 17, 1931 at Velva. At an early age she moved with her parents and siblings from Velva to Martin and later to the rural Anamoose area where she grew up and attended the White Township School.

On September 5, 1949 she was married to Matthew Sieg in Anamoose. They made their home on the Sieg family farm east of Anamoose. In addition to helping with the farming operation, Helen began working for the St. Aloisius Medical Center in the early 1980's as a Nursing Assistant and was also involved in the home health program. She later worked independently, caring for the elderly in their homes.

In 2004 Helen and Matt moved into Anamoose. Helen enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she often baby sat for. Helen spent many hours making quilts for her family and she will be forever remembered for preparing Sunday meals, with the best fried chicken and baked goods.

She was a member of the St. Francis-Xavier Catholic Church of Anamoose, its Altar Society and the Oswald-Wohl VFW Post #6831 Ladies Auxiliary of Anamoose.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Matt; 9 children, Frank (Pat), Anamoose, Emy (Maurie) Becker, Anamoose, Tim (Renee), Drake, Brandon 'Butch' (Marilyn), Granite Falls, WA, Bonnie (Bruce) Bentz, Bismarck, Vicky (Curt) Degenstein, Minot, Tom (Lorie),
Anamoose, Rob (Kathy), Anamoose and Mary Jund of Anamoose; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 5 brothers, Daniel (Darlene) Selzler, Easton,WA, Steve (Ann) Selzler, Harvey, Aloisius 'Woody' (Kathy) Selzler, Anamoose, Arnie (Nancy) Selzler, Harvey and August Jr. (Tora) Selzler of Kenmare; 4 sisters, Edith Schuelke of Fort Meyers, FL, Caroline Bachmeier of Bonny Lake, WA, Virginia (Alfred) Feichtinger of Tacoma, WA and Reannie May of Anamoose; and 2 sisters-in-law, Delores Selzler of Chippewa Falls, WI and Carol Sezler of Yelm, WA.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Leonard, Ray and Albert; grandson, Michael Matthew Stumpf; son-in-law, Patrick Jund; brother-in-law, August Bachmeier and sister-in-law, Arlene Selzler.

Funeral: Monday, February 1, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Francis-Xavier Catholic Church in Anamoose.

Prayer Service: Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the church

Burial: St. Francis-Xavier Catholic Cemetery in Anamoose.
