Irene Risovi, 92, rural Fessenden, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford. Her funeral will be held Monday, January 19, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Fessenden with burial at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in New Rockford. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home in Fessenden.

Irene Meyer, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Shery) Meyer, was born September 28, 1922 on the family farm near Harlow. She attended the Benson County Agricultural School in Maddock, graduating in 1940.

On November 12, 1946 she was united in marriage to Joseph Risovi Jr. at Brinsmade. They made their home in the Hamberg area where they farmed and she was a homemaker.

Irene loved to cook and bake for family and guests. She enjoyed playing cards, playing bingo and the companionship and entertainment of the many farm cats she and Joe had through the years. Irene especially loved her one and only grandchild, Wyatt.

She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Fessenden and the Harvey Eagles Club. She was also a long time member of the Harmony Homemakers Club.

Irene is survived by two sons, Jerome and Dennis of rural Fessenden; two daughters, Karen McBain of New Rockford and Gail Risovi (Gary Hendrickson) of Olathe, KS; one grandson, Wyatt J. Risovi-Hendrickson of Olathe, KS; and 3 sisters-in-law, Jean Meyer of Harlow, Tillie Ressler of Blooming Prairie, MN and Lillie Neumiller of Spokane, WA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; her parents; two brothers, Roy and Bernard; four sisters, Alice Buchta, Mabel Fitzpatrick, Albina Erickson and Marie Piatz; and one son-in-law, Roger McBain.
