James 'Jim' David Fandrich, 87, of Manfred, ND passed away Saturday, January 31, 2026 at SMP St. Aloisius Medical Center in Harvey, ND. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Manfred Seventh-day Adventist Church in rural Manfred with Pastor Harold Chin officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at the Manfred Seventh-day Adventist Church Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials can be sent to the family: Kathy Brown 5221 Tall Spruce Street Brighton, CO 80601 or to Dakota Heritage Bank for the Fandrich Memorial: 920 Lincoln Avenue, Harvey, ND 58341. Everyone is welcome to stream the service on Pastor Harold Chin's Facebook page – the service will be available to view for 30 days.
James David Fandrich was born on October 8, 1938 to Walter and Esther (Axt) Fandrich in Sheridan County, near Goodrich, ND. Jim grew up in Rusland Township near Manfred and attended the country school. He then attended Fessenden School and graduated from Sheyenne River Academy (SRA) near Harvey, ND in 1957.
Jim met LaVonne 'Bonnie' Sivertson at SRA and were high school sweethearts. The couple was married in New Town, ND on October 12, 1958. Jim and Bonnie moved to California and lived there five years. In 1965, they purchased a farm near Manfred and raised their children, Larry, Kathleen, and Kristi. Jim enjoyed farming, ranching, and trucking cross country.
James is survived by his children, Larry (Fay) Fandrich, Kathleen (Mark) Brown, and Kristi (Bruce) Griffith; grandchildren, Amanda (Damon) Dechant and children Drey, Ari, and Dace; Matthew (Kenzi) Brown and children Corbyn, Carter, and Paxtyn; Jason (Connie) Brown and children Boone, Bruin, and Bronwyn; Ethan (Katie) Griffith and child Nolan; Jenna (Christian) Popesku; sister, Ellen Kreiter; brothers, Arlie (Karen) Fandrich, and Dean (Sherri) Fandrich; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie, of 65 years on January 29, 2024; parents, Walter and Esther Fandrich; sister, Darlene Miller; brothers-in-law, Dale Miller and James Kreiter.
