James M. Reiswig, 91, rural Manfred, and more recently of Mandan, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2020. A memorial service will be held at a later date with burial at the Hillside Cemetery in Fessenden. Arrangements are with Nelson Funeral Home of Fessenden.

James Monroe Reiswig, son of Isaac H. and Emelia (Tebelius) Reiswig, was born January 27, 1929 at Harvey, ND. He was raised on the family farm in Delger Township, Wells County and received his early education in the nearby Eddy #1 rural school. He later attended Harvey Public School and graduated from Sheyenne River Academy in Harvey before enrolling at Union College in Lincoln, NE.

On June 3, 1951, Jim was united in marriage to Mildred Miller in Harvey. Two daughters, Pamela and Susan, were born to this union.

On January 30, 1953, Jim entered the United States Army and served with the 4 ^th Infantry Medical Corps at Ladd Air Force base in Fairbanks, Alaska. Following his honorable discharge in December of 1954, he served in the army reserves until 1960.

With the exception of two years, when Jim served in the army, he and Mildred operated their farm together until retiring in 1994, and remained on the farm until moving to Mandan in 2006.

Jim was a member of the Manfred Seventh-day Adventist Church where he held the offices of Treasurer, Elder and Deacon. Upon moving to Mandan, he became a member of the Bismarck Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Jim was also active in civic organizations. He served on the Fessenden CO-Op Elevator board for many years, was Rusland Township Supervisor for a number of years and was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W.

His ski trips to Utah, Colorado, California and Canada, the trips to Hawaii, Europe and Alaska, and the camping trips with Mildred, his daughters and his sons-in-law were Jim's favorite times. He continued to be an avid reader of the Bible and history, particularly history about WWII, until his death.

He is survived by his daughters, Pamela (Dale) Timothy of Loma Linda, CA and Susan (Roy) Haines of Dayton, OH; his brother, Philip (Joyce) Reiswig of Redlands, CA; and several nieces, nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred who passed away February 9, 2008; his parents; and his sister, Helen.
