Jeanette Theresa Wegler was born August 12, 1922 in St. Cloud, MN, the daughter of Edward and Margaret (Richter) Wegler. Jeanette married August Breider July 18, 1942 in St. Cloud. Their home became a small travel trailer while August traveled for work with Megarry Brothers Construction Company out of St. Cloud. In 1947 they moved to Fessenden, ND where they owned and operated a Texaco Station until 1969 when August retired. August died February 2, 1981. Jeanette moved to Fargo in 1997 where she was employed at a Sun Mart bakery and the Fargo Dome. In 2009, she moved to Long Prairie, MN, returning to the Fessenden area with family in 2018. She had resided at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd since January of 2019.
Jeanette's early days in Fessenden were devoted to her church, family, and community.
She took pride in being a loving, supportive wife, a good housekeeper, a good neighbor, and a mother of four. She was a very active member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Fessenden and worked retail at Helgeson's Men's Store and Johnson Drug. One of her proudest accomplishments was receiving her high school diploma through the Lake Region GED Program in 1983 at the age of 61. Education was very important to her and August; they made sure all of their children got a college education.
Throughout her life Jeanette enjoyed afternoon coffee parties with neighbors, bowling, playing cards, reading, baking, and making sure her kids and siblings received a weekly written letter. She was the best letter writer and never forgot to send a card to family members and friends on special days throughout the year. The greatest lessons taught to her children were faith in God, love of country, responsibility for oneself, sharing with others, and respect of others.
Jeanette leaves three children, Tim (Ruth), Fridley, MN, Annette (Jason) Skiftun, Fessenden, ND, Mike (Cindy), San Diego, CA; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Elaine Majerus, Fargo, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, August; daughter, Barbara Bourassa; her parents; brother, Donald Wegler; sisters, Delores Volkmuth and infant, Shirley Wegler; infant grandson, Zachariah Skiftun; brothers-in-law, Ralph Majerus and Tony Volkmuth; sister-in-law, Lil Wegler.
