Joan Mae Larson, 91, of Fargo, ND and formerly of Heimdal, ND, passed away Friday, November 10, 2023 at Elim Nursing Home in Fargo, ND. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, November 16, 2023 at the Nelson Funeral Home Chapel in Fessenden, ND with Pastor Shirley Teske officiating.  Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be held at the Hoff Lutheran Cemetery in Heimdal, ND.

Joan Mae Larson, daughter of Obed and Hennie (Nelson) Larson, was born May 14, 1932 at St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey, ND.  She was raised in Heimdal, ND and attended Heimdal Public School.  Joan lived on the family farm south of Heimdal and later in Harvey and Fessenden before moving to Fargo.  She then lived at the Elim Home Care Center until 2020, when she became a resident of Bethany on 42nd.  Joan moved back to Elim Home Care Center in the spring of 2023, where she resided until her passing.

Joan was confirmed at the Hoff Lutheran Church in Heimdal on July 28, 1946, and remained a member there her entire life.  She was involved in Luther League and the A.L.C.W.  She was also a member of the Willing Homemakers Club, the 55 Club and the Mollargutten Sons of Norway Lodge #4-478 of Maddock, ND.

Joan enjoyed bowling, Bible Study, card games, reading, watching movies on TV, ceramics, singing, listening to music, email, and ball point painting and shopping.

Joan is survived by several cousins and special friends, Marion Kramer, Pam and Bob Sterling, Erling Johnson, Betty Hakanson and Ivan Arnold.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Obed and Hennie Larson; her stepmother, Ruth Aaness Larson; her grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.
