Joann Louise Wagner, 81, of Anamoose, ND, passed away Friday, January 31, 2025 at SMP St. Aloisius Long Term Care in Harvey, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, February 8, 2025 at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Anamoose, ND with Fr. Thomas Graner celebrating mass. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM Friday, February 7, 2025 followed by 5:00 PM Rosary and Vigil Service at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Burial will be held at St. Elizabeth Catholic Cemetery in Sykeston, ND in the spring.
Joann Louise was born July 30, 1943 to Ora and Mary (Altringer) Anderson in Walla Walla, WA. At a young age, Joann moved with her family to a farm southeast of Jamestown, Ypsilanti, ND. She attended country school and graduated in 1961 from St. John's Academy in Jamestown. Joann furthered her education at St. Joseph's School of Nursing.
Joann was united in marriage to Alvin Francis Wagner on February 2, 1963 in Jamestown. The couple lived in Jamestown for a short time before relocating to Sykeston, ND in the mid to late 1960's. Joann and Alvin began a Bee Business before purchasing Wagner Hardware and operated the store together for over 20 years.
The couple moved to Anamoose in 1987 where they made their home. Joann was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar Society. She enjoyed putting together puzzles, reading, and playing cards (especially "Bolivia"). Joann's favorite past time was spent with her children, grandchildren, and family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Joann is survived by her children, Francis (Anne) Wagner, Susan (Dennis) Larson, Sharon (Kevin) VanNess-Williams, and Richard Wagner; 8 grandchildren, Michael (Abby), Shannon (Alan), Alex (Kaitlynn), Thomas (Catelyn), Allen, Brian, Cody (engaged to Andrea), and John; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Donald (Marti) Anderson; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; son, Michael Wagner; parents, Ora and Mary Anderson; son-in-law, Paul VanNess; brother, Ken Anderson; sister, Dorothy Connelly.
