Joanne Damon, 66, Jamestown, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Sanford Health in Fargo. A family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Nelson Funeral Home of Fessenden. Online condolences may be shared at nelsonfuneralhomesnd.com.

Joanne Marie Damon, daughter of Rev. John and Wanda (Mitchell) Damon, was born October 28, 1954 in Bloomfield, IA. She graduated from Fessenden High School in 1973 and worked in Omaha, NE for a short time before returning to Fessenden with her parents in 1983. She then enrolled at NDSU in Fargo and graduated with a degree in high school counseling. She was employed at schools in Montana, North Dakota and Kansas. In 2004, she retired from counseling due to ill health and returned to Fessenden. In 2008 she moved to Jamestown due to further health issues, and had resided there since.

Joanne enjoyed reading books, quilting, crocheting, embroidering, making beaded necklaces and she had a knack for coloring in adult coloring books. She loved to cook and had an extensive cookbook collection. She especially loved her son and his wife, her granddaughter, and her brother and sisters and their families. Joanne's family, friends and faith were her priorities.

She is survived by her son, John (Jeanne) Damon of Missouri City, TX; granddaughter, Reagan Damon; sisters, Judy (Lewis) Weigelt of Manfred and Marsha (Chuck) Wallace of Basin, WY; her brother, Bill Damon of Fargo; and several nieces and nephews

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, John and Wanda; and her niece, Rachel Weigelt Maxwell.
