Joyce E. Olschlager, 84, Fargo, formerly of Fessenden, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Edgewood Vista in Fargo.

Joyce Estelle Albrecht, daughter of Clifford and Mabel (Olson) Albrecht, was born August 2, 1931 at rural Fessenden. She was baptized and confirmed at Concordia Lutheran Church and attended area rural schools through the eighth grade. She graduated from Fessenden High School in 1948.

On June 30, 1949, Joyce married Walter Olschlager at the Concordia Lutheran Church. They made their home west of Fessenden where they farmed and raised their two sons, Terry and Bryan. Following their retirement they moved into Fessenden. Walter passed away July 5, 2000.

Joyce was a member of First Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary of Fessenden. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and will always be remembered as a loving and nurturing mother and grandmother.

Joyce was an avid sports fan. She loved watching the Minnesota Twins and Timberwolves, the NDSU Bison, and NASCAR, Dale Earnhardt Sr. being her favorite driver.

She is survived by her sons, Terry (Sandra) of Mead, CO and Bryan (Lisa) of Fargo; 4 grandchildren, Adam (Sarah Elliott) of Billings, MT, Jenna (Michael Williams) of Estes Park, CO, Ty of Hopkins, MN and Alexa of Moorhead, MN; 2 sisters, Marilyn (Irving) Driesner of Fessenden and ElRita (Roger) Nelson of Bismarck; and two sisters-in-law, Marlys Olschlager of Fessenden and Janice Albrecht of Fargo.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; her parents; and 3 brothers, Clifton, Jerald and Dennis.

The Olschlager family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Edgewood Vista and to Red River Valley Hospice for the loving care they provided to Joyce.
