Joyce A. Schmidtgal, 59, New Rockford formerly of Drake, North Dakota passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at Sanford on Broadway Medical Center, Fargo, North Dakota.  Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 26, 2023 at Nelson Funeral Home, Drake, North Dakota.  Pastor Jeff Blomquist will officiate and burial will be in the Drake City Cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Joyce Annette Schmidtgal was born June 3, 1964 at Harvey, North Dakota, the daughter of Earl and Josephine (Cogil) Schmidtgal.  She grew up at Drake and attended school in Drake, later going to school in Harvey, and eventually graduating from Fessenden in 1985.  She lived with her parents in Drake before moving to New Rockford where she lived at the 4th Corporation Group Home, where she continued to live until her passing.

Joyce was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in Drake.  She loved to watch country music videos and cooking shows on TV.

Joyce is survived by her sisters, Judith (Franklin James) Ramey, Salt Lake City, UT, and Jayne Isaak, Harvey, ND; also several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jack, infant sister Dorothy, and brother-in-law, James Isaak.
