Obituary

Kathryn Solberg, 90, Lonsdale, MN, formerly of Fessenden, died Sunday, April 14, 2013 at a Lonsdale care center. Her funeral will be held Friday, April 20, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Fessenden with burial at the Hillside Cemetery in Fessenden. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home in Fessenden. A prayer service will be held Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the church.

Kathryn Eva Heisler, daughter of Jospeh and Gertrude (Pflifer) Heisler, was born August 30, 1922 on her parents farm in the Esmond-Selz area where she grew up and attended country school. She graduated from Esmond High School in 1941 and enrolled at the Minot State Teachers College where she received her teaching certificate in 1943. She then taught in country schools in Pierce, Benson and later Wells County for several years.

On July 25, 1945 she was married to Carl Solberg at Esmond. They made their home on a farm north of Heimdal until the early 1950's when they sold the farm and moved to Fargo. They later returned to the Heimdal area and, although they moved into Fessenden in 1976, they continued farming until retiring in 1983.

Following Carl's death in 1988, Kathryn remained in Fessenden until moving to New Rockford in 2011. She moved to Lonsdale in October of 2012 to be closer to her daughters.

Katherine is survived by her daughters, Carol (Joe) Moreau of Minneapolis, MN and Debbie Moreau (Mike Hiebert-friend) of Northfield, MN; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; and 1 sister Mikelene (George) Ludwig of Fargo.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and siblings, Steve, Tom, Wendelin, Louis, Joe, Lucas, Nick, Rose, Lena, Genevieve, Barbara.

Funeral: Friday, April 19, 2013 10:30 A.M. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Fessenden.
Visitation: Thursday, from 2 P.M. to 5 P.M. at the Nelson Funeral Home in Fessenden
Prayer Service: Thursday evening at 7:00 P.M. at the church.

Burial: Hillside Cemetery in Fessenden.
