Katherina (Kay) Ripplinger, 87, Bowdon, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford.
Katherina Hager, daughter of Joseph M. And Johanna (Scheet) Hager, was born July 2, 1925, at rural Esmond where she grew up and attended country school.
On October 24, 1944, she was married to Theodore (Ted) Ripplinger at Balta. They farmed in the Esmond area until 1964 at which time they moved to a farm southeast of Bowdon and farmed there until 1973 when they moved to Carrington and continued farming until their retirement in 1984. Kay moved to Bowdon in 1992 residing there until 2010 when she moved to the Holy Family Villa in Carrington and then to the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford.Kay's greatest joy was spending time with her family and loving them well, serving as their example on how to give love freely, laugh with abandon, embody courage and to live life with grace, gratitude and joy. Kay was a special lady and was loved by her many friends. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Katherina is survived by 2 sons, Donovan (Judith) Ripplinger of Bowdon and Dale (Joyce) Ripplinger of Cathay; 2 daughters, Diane (Roger) Heilman of West Fargo and Karen (Cory) Kunz of Bismarck; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 1 brother, John (Eleanor) Hager of Selz; and 6 sisters, Helen Miller of Buffalo, MN, Philipina (Sebastian) Bertsch of Minot, Julia (Wally) Berglund of Sun City, AZ, Delores Dutenhafer of Minot, Rose (Robert) Weigel of Minot and Lostina Brengman of Parish, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant child; her parents; brother, William Hager and sister, Mary Carlson.
Funeral: Monday, April 29 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in New Rockford.
Burial: Wayside Cemetery of Bowdon later this spring.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 3pm to 5pm at the Nelson Funeral Home in Fessenden.
Prayer service will be held Sunday evening at 7 pm at St. John's Catholic Church in New Rockford.
