Lauretta Schilling, 94, Anamoose, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey. Her funeral will be held Saturday, November 9, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Anamoose with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will beheld one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Arrangements with Nelson Funeral Home of Drake.
Lauretta Ellingson, daughter of Einar and Jurgina (Stubstad) Ellingson, was born August 29, 1925 on the family farm near Balfour where she was raised and euducated. She was the youngest of twelve children. As a young girl she did housekeeping work for families in the Balfour area and later worked for Sweetheart Bakery in Bismarck for a short time.
On January 15, 1944, Lauretta was united in marriage to Louis Schilling in Velva. They made their home on a farm near Anamoose until moving into Anamoose in 1962. Lauretta worked at the Savageau Café until accepting a job with Albrecht Grocery Store in Anamoose. In 1972 she and Louis purchased the grocery store which they continued to own and operate as Schilling Fairway until 1979. Lauretta then began her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant at St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey and continued until her retirement. Following Louis's death on March 14, 2002, Lauretta remained in Anamoose until moving to Harvey in March of 2016.
She was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church and a life member of the Oswald-Wohl V.F.W. Post #6831 Auxiliary of Anamoose.
Lauretta is survived by her 4 sons, Leslie (Bonnie) of Fargo, Keith and Craig (Janis) of Harvey and Jim (Kim) of Moorhead, MN; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 4 step great-grandchildren; 9 step great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis; her parents; and her siblings, Orville, Thina, Albert, Alice, Clarence, Clifford, Margaret, Virgil, Viola, Evelyn and Hilda.
