Obituary

Lawrence J. Zuther, 92, Rossville, IN, formerly of Anamoose, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at the Milner Nursing Home in Rossville, IN. His funeral will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Francis-Xavier Catholic Church in Anamoose with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. at the church.

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, CDC recommendations including social distancing, hand cleansing, wearing masks, and staying away if not feeling well are encouraged.

Lawrence Zuther, son of Albert and Anna (Gollnick) Zuther, was born August 12, 1927 at rural Martin, ND where he was raised and attended school through the eighth grade.

In 1945, Lawrence entered the United States Army and received his basic training at Fort Rucker, Alabama before transferring to Keesler Army Airfield, Mississippi. At the time he completed his training, WWII had ended.

He was once married to Lillian Sauter and they lived and farmed one mile east of Anamoose. He later married Rose Samuel and she passed away September 3, 1994. On July 30, 2004, Lawrence married Janet (Medaris) Parks of Rossville, IN. They spent the summer months on the Anamoose farm and wintered in Indiana.

Lawrence enjoyed working as a farmer and driving school bus for 41 years for the Anamoose Public School.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Janet Zuther; his 6 children, Lowell (Linda) Zuther of Apple Valley, MN, Diana (Allen) Dockter of Sawyer, Lloyd (Phyllis) Zuther of Grandin, Clara Ann (Leroy) Renner of Beulah, Leon (Marlys) Zuther of Hazen, and Leroy (Sheila) Zuther of Sawyer; step-sons, Brad (Lorrie) Parks and Brant Parks of Lafayette, IN; step-daughters, Kathy (Ron) Bramer of Lafayette, IN and Cindy (Bruce) Felix of Westfield, IN; 23 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife Rose; his parents; brothers, Alfonse, Albert Jr., Alfred and Paul; sister, Elizabeth; and grandson, Thomas Zuther.
