Lewis D. Weigelt, 83, of Manfred, ND passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025 at SMP Health St. Aloisius Medical Center in Harvey, ND.  Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 20, 2025 at the First Lutheran Church in Fessenden, ND with Pastor Dale Peaslee officiating.  Visitation will take place from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM followed by 7:00 PM Prayer Service Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at the Nelson Funeral Home.  Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery at a later date.

Lewis Daniel was born December 8, 1941 to Henry and Pauline (Sprenger) Weigelt on the family farm in Manfred, ND.  He attended school in Fessenden, ND, graduating in 1959.  Lewis furthered his education for a short time, attending Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, ID from 1959-1961, before returning to Wells County.  He began his long School Bus driving career with the Fessenden Public School in 1967, spanning 52 years.  Lewis was united in marriage to Judy Damon on June 20, 1969 in Fessenden and to this union welcomed three children, Brian, Rachel, and Ashley.

Lewis began farming with his father upon returning to Wells County and continued until 1995. He then worked for other farmers for a number of years.

He also served as an RTC Phone Company lineman for many years before lines were buried (following his father in that role). Lewis was a West Norway Township Supervisor and Election Board worker, a member of the Fessenden Church of the Nazarene and church board member, then the Carrington Church of the Nazarene where he taught Sunday school. He attended the Bowdon Church of God the past five years.

Lewis participated in two overseas missions trips to Haiti in 1977 and to Trinidad in 1978.  He was an avid supporter of public school activities; sports, music, drama and FFA to name a few.  Lewis was well known for his baking skills and endless supply of Dad jokes.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Lewis is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judy; son, Brian (Rosslyn) Weigelt of Arlington, VA; daughter, Ashley (Katina) Morel-Weigelt of Fargo, ND; son-in-law, Chris Maxwell; four grandchildren, Wyatt, Lily, Eliza and Greta; brothers, Morris Weigelt and Allen Weigelt; and his adored four nieces and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rachel Maxwell; parents, Henry and Pauline Weigelt.
