Lillian Schmidt, 88, Minot, formerly of Anamoose, passed away Friday, February 23, 2018 at Trinity Homes in Minot. Her funeral will be held Wednesday, February 28, at 10:30 A. M. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Drake with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. at the church, followed by a 7:00 P. M. Prayer service at the church. Arrangements with Bethke-Nelson Funeral Home of Drake.
Lillian A. Sauter, daughter of William and Kunda (Ell) Sauter, was born April 2, 1929 at rural Anamoose. She was raised on the family farm northeast of Anamoose and received her education in the nearby White Township Consolidated School. She later attended Anamoose High School, graduating in 1947.
She was once married to Lawrence Zuther. They lived and farmed east of Anamoose.
On October 19, 1968 she was married to Clifford Frueh. They made their home west of Anamoose where they farmed until Mr. Frueh's death on February 28, 1996.
On November 18, 2000 she was married to Ralph Schmidt who farmed in the Anamoose area. Following Ralph's death on November 21, 2006, Lillian remained on the farm west of Anamoose until moving to Somerset Court in Minot in September of 2011.
In addition to helping out on the farm, Lillian was an excellent seamstress. She made many wedding and prom dresses and did mending for area families for years.
She was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church of Drake. She was also a member of the Oswald-Wohl V.F.W. Post #6831 Auxiliary of Anamoose and the Anamoose Senior Citizens Club.
She is survived by her 6 children, Lowell (Linda) Zuther of Minneapolis, MN, Diana (Allen) Dockter of Sawyer, Lloyd (Phyllis) Zuther of Grandin, Clara Ann (LeRoy) Renner of Beulah, Leon (Marlys) Zuther of Hazen and Leroy (Sheila) Zuther of Sawyer; stepson, Dr. Alan (Carol) Frueh of Sacremento, CA; stepdaughter, Cheryl (David) Olson of rural Drake; 21 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Lorraine Thomas of Jacksonville, NC.
Lillian was preceded in death by her husbands, Clifford and Ralph; her parents; brothers, Edward, Robert & Harold; sister, LaVerne; and grandson, Tommy.
