Lucille Wahl, 85, Fessenden, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey. Her funeral will be held Saturday, January 19 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Fessenden with burial at Hillside Cemetery in Fessenden. Visitation will be held Friday, January 18 from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. followed by a 7 P.M. prayer service, all at the church. Arrangements with Nelson Funeral Home of Fessenden.
Lucille Strauss, daughter of Joseph and Ida (Schnabel) Strauss, was born December 31, 1933 on the Strauss family farm south of Harvey. The family lived in the Harvey area until moving to a farm near Manfred in 1941. She attended Manfred Public School through the eighth grade before transferring to Fessenden Public School, graduating in 1952.
In 1952 she was married to Maynard Wahl in Fessenden where they made their home. In addition to raising her six children, Lou worked at the Pioneer Bar which she and Maynard owned. She later worked as a waitress at the Cabaret for many years.
Lou was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church of Fessenden.
She loved her children and nothing gave her more pleasure than spending time with her family.
Lou is survived by her children, Shari (Steve) Burgess of Kearns, UT, David Wahl of Tempe, AZ, Loreli Wahl of Los Angeles, CA, Carla (Doug) Kroll of Napoleon, ND, Craig Wahl of Kearns, UT and Steve Wahl of Pasadena, CA; 4 grandchildren, Jodi (Robert), Jamie, Ericka and Ericka (Davr); 4 great-grandchildren, Brindin, Traeden, Amora and Solana; 4 sisters, Kathryn Gladheim of Vancouver, WA, Arlene Ehni of Bismarck, Audrey Larson of Portland, OR and Judy (Tom) Schaudel of Folsom, LA; and 3 brothers, Joseph Jr. of Mesa, AZ, Richard of Omaha, NE and John (Jennifer) of Camden, AR.
She was preceded in death by Maynard, who died in 2003; her parents; 1 sister, Elaine Weigelt; and 2 brothers, James and Don.
