Mabel
Pister
Dec 18, 1920 — Mar 30, 2019
Minot formerly of Kief
Mabel Pister, 98, Minot, formerly of Kief, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019 at CHI St. Alexius Garrison Nursing Facility.
Mabel Hirchert, daughter of Henry and Reesa (Schwamb) Hirchert, was born December 18, 1920 on her parents' farm south of Chaseley where she grew up and attended a nearby country school. As a young girl she did housework for area families and also worked for area threshing crews as a cook.
On April 27, 1945 she was united in marriage to George Pister at McClusky. They made their home on the Pister farm southwest of Kief where they farmed, ranched and milked cows. Following George's death November 17, 1976, Mabel remained on the farm until moving to Dakota Terrace in Minot in 2008. She had recently moved to Garrison Nursing Facility.
Mabel loved the farm, walking with her dogs, gardening and, for years, watching The Price Is Right and The Young And The Restless. More than anything, she loved her family, especially her Grandkids, many of whom wanted to live with her always and not just during the summers.
She is survived by her children, George of Minot, Shirley Mock (Larry Zeeb) of Harvey, Margie Pister of Bismarck, Mabel (Stan) Mosser of Minot, Glenn of Drake and Bob (Bonnie) of Karlsruhe; son-in-law, Gerald Monge of Martin; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Frank Pister of Kief and sister-in-law, Sharon Hirchert of New Rockford.
Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, George; son, Dale; daughter, Diane Monge; her parents; 3 granddaughters, Tracey Eli and infants Kelly & Kacey Mock; 4 brothers, Leonard, Lester, Virgil and Norman Hirchert; 2 sisters, Myrtle Hirchert and Helen Pister; and son-in-law, Delmer Mock.
You taught us everything Mom, everything except how to live without you. We will love and miss you forever.
