Obituary

Marcella Huber, 90, Fessenden, passed away Friday, November 6, 2015 at the Carrington Health Center in Carrington, ND. Her funeral will be held Friday, November 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mennonite Brethern Church in Harvey with burial at the Hillside Cemetery in Fessenden. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home in Fessenden.

Marcella Violet Jucht, daughter of Albert and Ida (Koth) Jucht, was born March 20, 1925 near Clayton, SD where she grew up and attended Clayton Country School #65. Marcella was baptized at Lake Hanson near Alexandria, SD by Rev. J.C. Kraenzers and became a member of the Plum Creek Baptist Church near Emery, SD in 1940.

She remained on the family farm for a number of years and continued to help her parents with household and farming work. She also worked as a telephone operator from 1954 until 1964 and telephone office secretary from 1964 to 1966.

On September 29, 1966, she was married to Alvin Huber at the Plum Creek Baptist Church. They made their home on the Huber family farm south of Fessenden where they continued to farm until Alvin's death on October 6, 1979. Following Alvin's death, Marcella remained on the farm until moving into Fessenden in September of 2007.

Upon moving to the Fessenden area in1966, Marcella became a member of the First Baptist Church in Fessenden where she was active in the Esther Circle and served as church deaconess for 19 years, as well as being involved in many other church groups.

She was also active in the Fessenden Community as a member of the Wells County Historical Society, the Fessenden Specialist Club and as a volunteer with Wells County Senior Meals on Wheels.

Marcella enjoyed quilting, gardening, raising flowers, strawberries & raspberries and tending to her yard in general. She loved her independence and helping others who were in need.

She is survived by her daughter Carol Pettersen of Hazen; 2 grandchildren, Zachary and Nicole; one brother, Harvey (Mildred) Jucht of Mitchell, SD; one sister, Delores Wuertzer of Parkston, SD; sister-in-law, Ruth Autrey of Stockton, CA; brother-in-law, Albert Huber of New Rockford and several nieces and nephews.

Marcella was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; her parents; niece, Sherry Bulock; brothers-in-law, Don Wuertzer and Thomas Autrey; and sister-in-law, Jane Huber.
