Margret 'Margy' Zirbel, 67, of rural Chaseley, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2020 under the care of hospice at rural Chaseley, ND. A private funeral service will be held at the Chaseley United Methodist Church at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 11 followed by burial at the Chaseley Cemetery. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, CDC recommendations for social distancing are encouraged. Arrangements are with Nelson Funeral Home of Fessenden.

Margret Cose, daughter of John and Jean (Spencer) Cose, was born March 7, 1953 at Egeland. She grew up on her parents' farm near Egeland and attended Egeland Public School, graduating in 1971. Margy always had a love for horses so while attending NDSU in Fargo she boarded her favorite horse at a nearby farm and was able to ride it as often as possible. Following her graduation from NDSU, she and her sister rode horses from Fargo back to Egeland. They slept under the stars unless a kind farmer would offer to put them up for the night.

Margy then attended Veterinary Technician College in Tacoma, WA and, upon graduating, she returned to NDSU where she assisted in starting the Vet-Tech program. She also worked for Dr. Throlson at the Central Dakota Veterinary Clinic and later for Dr. Walker at the Flickertail Veterinary in New Rockford until her marriage to Henry Zirbel on January 1, 1980.

They made their home on the Zirbel farm north of Chaseley and Margy began her dog-grooming business which she operated on the farm, in Carrington, Harvey and Steele.

Margy was a member of the Chaseley United Methodist Church. She served on the church board and was very active in the Cowboy Sunday church services where she and Henry hosted all the horse rides from the Zirbel ranch for years. She also rode horse in the St. Jude Children's Hospital Fund Raiser Trail Ride, and won numerous awards for being the highest donor collector for St. Jude.

Margy is survived by her husband of 40 years, Henry; her sisters, Jean (Randy) Hoerer of Wahpeton, Nancy (Bobby) Bjornstad of Carrington and Jane (Wesley) Yoder of Egeland; her brother, Sanderson 'Sandy' (Leslie) Cose of Fargo; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, John 'Joe' and Peter.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be given to the Chaseley Cemetery.
