Marlys Stroh, 81, of Bowdon, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey, where she had been a resident since July 17, 2014. Her funeral will be held Monday, April 20, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Bowdon Country Seventh-day Adventist Church of rural Bowdon with burial in the church cemetery. Arrangements with Nelson Funeral Home of Fessenden.

Marlys Knudtson, daughter of Sylvester and Evelyn (Rothacker) Knudtson, was born on May 2, 1933 at Harvey. The family lived in Carrington for a time and moved to Harvey in 1946. Marlys graduated from Harvey High School in 1952. She then worked in area restaurants.

Marlys married Kenneth D. Stroh on June 24,1953 at the Stroh family farm near Heaton, ND.

In 1956 Marlys, Kenneth and their two children, Susan and Kent, moved to Anaconda, MT. They raised six children and managed the Eagles Club in Anaconda. She later worked as a waitress at the China Café and was the bartender for the Wonder Bar.

Marlys enjoyed trips back to North Dakota and to California, visiting family. She loved camping with the family and playing cards with family and friends. In later years she loved her time with all the grand children, family get togethers, as well as all the family reunions and surprise birthday parties. She also enjoyed her evening drives with her husband Kenneth to watch the beautiful sunsets.

In 1982 Marlys and Kenneth moved back to Heaton to take care of his ailing mother, Martha. In 1985, Marlys and Kenneth moved to Bowdon.
She was a member of the Bowdon Country Seventh-day Adventist Church of Bowdon.

Marlys is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth of Bowdon. 3 daughters, Susan DeVries (Duane Morlock) of Henning, MN, Dawn Kim Banta of Bowdon and Janeen Bonney of Philipsburg, MT; 3 sons, Kent (Laura) Stroh of Hazen, Mike (Karen) Stroh of Ingomar, MT and Hal (Roxi) Stroh of Great Falls, MT; 22 grandchildren, 42 great- grandchildren and 7 great -great- grandchildren; sister-in-law Linda Knudtson of Harvey; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Duane Knudtson.
