Marvin Ray Hornbacher, son of Robert and Helen (Sprenger) Hornbacher was born April 14, 1959 at Harvey, ND. He attended school at the Drake Public School in Drake and later at the Fessenden Public School where he graduated in May of 1981. In 1983, Marvin was enrolled in the HAV-IT program in Harvey. He worked for HAV-IT industries and recycling for many years. He had recently become a resident of Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City due to ill health.
While living in Harvey, Marvin faithfully attended the Bethel Baptist Church.
Marvin lived a full, busy life. He enjoyed the simple things, a good meal, a Dairy Queen treat, going for car rides, watching sports, family pets, music, HAV-IT trips, and Special Olympics. He also liked teasing and joking around with friends, especially his boss, Don, at the recycling center. He will be remembered as a loving gentle, and good person who always had a hug for family and friends.
Marvin could be relied on for the name of a relative or other acquaintance when the memory of others failed. Family gatherings and birthdays were important to Marvin. He was always ready to tell you his birthday and was pleased when family and HAV-IT friends remembered. Although he liked to talk about retiring throughout his working years, he missed the activity and his friends when he was out sick.
He was preceeded in death by his parents and sister Carol Hornbacher Ghanam.
He is survived by his brothers Alan & James (Doris) and sisters Kathleen and Rose Marie, 5 nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
