Marvin D. "Petsie" Miller, 91, Hatton, North Dakota formerly of Fessenden, North Dakota passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Sanford Health in Fargo, North Dakota, surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1420 7th St, North, Fargo, North Dakota.  Fr. Robert Keller will officiate and burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, North Dakota at a later date.  Visitation will start at 6:00 P.M., Monday, February 28, 2022 with a rosary and vigil service at 7:00 P.M. at the church.  Arrangements are with Nelson Funeral Home, Fessenden, North Dakota.

Marvin, son of Marvin (Barney) and Benita (Lies) Miller, was born on November 20, 1930 in Fessenden, ND. He was raised in Fessenden and attended college at St. Thomas before serving as a US Air Force Sgt. in Wiesbaden, Germany for 4 years. It was there he met Elfriede and they were married in Schonberg, Germany on February 13, 1955. They raised and loved one son and three daughters and remained devoted to each other for 59 years until Elfriede's death.

Following Marvin's honorable discharge from the Air Force, they made their home in Fessenden where they took over the Miller family business, Fessenden Machine Co., which they enjoyed operating until retiring in 1989. Marvin was a hard worker and especially loved interacting with his customers and providing exceptional customer service, there wasn't a part he couldn't find in the 3-state area, if a farmer needed it, he found it.

He was devoted to God and the Catholic faith with a strong belief in the angels. Family was very important to him and he especially treasured spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

He was so full of life, love and laughter. He loved telling stories, sharing memories, and scheming. He was a jokester and a bit of a prankster who was always full of great ideas, unexpected surprises, witty comments, comebacks, and one-liners. You never knew what he would say or do next, he was especially adept at providing insightful (and entertaining) advice on everything from marriage to women. He had a great sense of humor and found joy in making people smile and laugh. He enjoyed life, remembered everyone he met and had a way of making sure you would never forgot meeting him.

He never sat still and if he wasn't with family or working, he spent time collecting antiques, researching the next greatest stock, or working alongside Elfriede tending to their flowers. He was very caring, outgoing, social, generous, funny, straightforward and not afraid to share his thoughts, opinions, life lessons or a thoughtful gift.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Michelle (John) Huus of Hatton, ND; Maureen (Pete) Knight of Brainerd, MN and Melissa (Paul) Huus of Pine Island, MN; a daughter-in-law Robin Miller of Fargo, ND; 7 grandchildren, Aaron (Emily) Huus, Elizabeth Miller, John (fiancé Mandi Stark) Huus, Matthew Huus, Kendra (fiancé Ben Knecht) Miller, Kasey Knight, Connor Knight; 2 great-grandchildren, Olivia and Joanna Huus; two sisters, Janice (Dennis) Kanwisher and Kathy Scheer; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elfriede; son, Michael; parents; and two brothers, William and Robert.
